PR Watch
[edit]PR Watch monitors deceptive and manipulative public relations firms, such as the creation of "front groups" -- organizations that purport to represent a popular public agenda, when in fact their message is tailored to serve the specific interests of a client whose sponsorship of the organization is hidden.
Above text makes PR Watch seem more general than it really is. Rampton's website and newsletter actually only go after groups trying to debunk his environmentalist agenda. --Uncle Ed 20:45 Jan 15, 2003 (UTC)
Actually, PR Watch does more than expose anti-environmental front groups. --Sheldon Rampton 04:10 22 Jun 2003 (UTC)

This is Sheldon Rampton. I added a couple of sentences to the end of my bio today to mention that I currently serve on the board of directors of Global Energy Monitor. I think this is a small revision, and I have tried to edit from a factual and neutral point of view, but I encourage anyone who has concerns about conflict-of-interest editing to review and revise my changes if you think that is warranted. - Yes, that seems non-contoversial.
- However, while you are here, I note that much of the material in the earlier part of the article is essentially unsourced and that one piece of info further down is sourced to LinkedIn, which is an inadmissible source.
- I'm also concerned that the paragraph commencing
Rampton is also a contributor to the Wikipedia open content project
seems to be based primarily on self-sourcing and may not be significant info. - Also the claim that you coined the term 'Wikimedia' is based solely on your own say so, which is at least highly irregular, even if we assume that the fact is of encyclopaedic value - which seems to me rather unclear.
- Are these issues that you would be able to take on and resolve? If not, I think that the relevant material should be deleted. Axad12 (talk) 05:06, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
